A COMMUNITY STUDY OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN
ST. PETERSBURG, FL
DESCRIPTION
As a Board Director of the League of Women Voters St. Petersburg Area, I initiated and subsequently formed library committee. The League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area (LWVSPA) unanimously approved the convening of a library committee as a part of the program year. That year the LWVSPA won League of Year, best chapter in Florida, due to their programming which included the Community Study of Public Libraries.
MY ROLE
I formed and chaired the library committee. There were nine active members on the committee and fourteen as needed volunteers. I facilitated the monthly meetings, all committee communication, and supported the team members when needed. As a team, we worked together in creating the survey. The committee members administered the study at libraries throughout St. Petersburg and we compiled the results. I then analyzed the data and wrote the study. Also, I developed the questions and facilitated the LWVSPA’s community conversation on libraries.
